Expedition

What an absolutely terrible way to celebrate my 250th geohash expedition (by my own count). Maybe I should count all expeditions including Globalhashes, which would make 2024-04-02 53 10 the 250th. Much better!

I'd had a loooong drought of good hashes – the last good one was on 2024-04-02, a day later I went out of my way to get a birthday hash, and then followed a long string of disappointments. 2024-04-09 was possible, but I was too busy for it. On 2024-04-27, the very first day I was abroad in eight months, the hash of course landed in a great location back home. The nerve! This was my joint longest drought of hashes since March 2022, and by far the longest not mostly related to travels since December 2020.

On 3 May, the hash finally appeared nearby again, but in a private garden. I'd waited a month for my 250th expedition, and then this! Well, not going wasn't an option, and I'd missed my chance to visit in the morning, so I hopped on a train to Kiwittsmoor in the evening (cycling between Moorbekhalle and Norderstedt Mitte since the rails are closed) and cycled a few minutes to the hash.

As expected, even the first garden was heavily fenced and the house likely occupied, and the hash was one garden further. I took pictures 15 m from the coordinates and left, cycled back to the station where I missed the train, waited, took the train to Nomi and cycled one station, waited again, and then went home. Not hashing as I like it!
