Plans
This one surprised me given how close it is to the northern edge of the graticule. Although satellite suggests the point is centimeters north of the fence, one can still poke their GPS through the chain-link when coming from the south, where the parking lot is wide open (excepting the deterrent signs). Pass along I-80 and park right next to the point.
Expedition
I would normally bore you with trivial details - but not only have I realized this isn't a great idea, I actually don't remember them.
What happened was I decided to set off, going through various California state highways and skipping along the west side of Vallejo before getting on I-80[1] and crossing the bridge, marking the first time I've crossed into the actual Bay Area alone. Then a few more miles, then onto the Richmond Parkway (which looks like a parkway), then into the business park, then into the parking lot, then finally looking weird on surveillance cameras before heading home the same way, incurring the toll in the process.
This replicates my Oklahoma expedition in some way. I knew I wasn't supposed to be here, and constantly conscious of this, I just took photos and went away, getting only the track and point screens. Nonetheless, I felt good about this trip. Beautiful, of course because Bay Area[2], and I also combined it with some errands, so a nice day out all together. It's another graticule (and county), too :)
- ↑ A massive accident occurred in the northeast of Vallejo (where I-80 runs) at 6 am, with reports - looking only at Caltrans - of "many" drivers going the wrong way (maybe traffic redirection). Despite my phone suggesting to go to and past this accident, I routed against it.
- ↑ On my standards, anyway; I think you can tell I don't go outside.
