Knowing that I would be doing some traveling this weekend, the hash release on Friday was probably the one I’ve had the most anticipation for. When the points dropped, this one was the most appealing due to its location relatively close to a road. Upon further research and discussion, this point was debated as being right across from a house and being squarely in a field, but I decided that it would be worth it to at least drive by. Google street view showed that the field had recently been two fields with a fence in between, but at some point in the past decade that had been removed, which was promising for the hash. Sunday came and while on the road, I decided to fully go for it and drive the roads into the community of Colton, Ohio.

Expedition

Upon driving on the road with the hash, I pulled over on a nice grass curb area and set off to use my newly downloaded GPS app for the first time. This hash would be my first that I would have no way of identifying without the use of a number based GPS system, which was a novelty in and of itself. I walked up and down the road figuring out what the numbers meant until I realized that I had looked the wrong header number and found what direction I had to go in. Much like many fields in the area at this time of year, the field with the hash had the remains of last year's crops, which appeared to be corn. I set off into the field, and after a quick walk and a little hashdance, the location locked and I reached the hash! I quickly took some photos and set down Night Fox and Skip, and then quickly walked back to my car and left. It was a great little trip, and I was excited to be the first to successfully hash in Ohio in this graticule! 2^2!
