In the evening after work, I plan to catch bus 387 leaving from Háje at 18:10. It will eventually pass through the hashpoint at around 19:10, after which I can get off, reach the hashpoint on foot, walk to the nearest bus stop (Výžerky, Rozcestí) and catch the returning bus at 20:02. This might change when I play with the route search once more.

Expedition

I set off exactly as I had planned. I worked until 17:05 or so, caught bus 331 from Vestec to Opatov and metro C to Háje. Then, I had to wait around for nearly half an hour until bus 387 left. The bus schedules worked out a bit stupidly such that there was no later bus that I could catch and get to Háje by 18:10 even though the journey was only half an hour long. Oh well, at least I had no hurry and could explore the area a little. There were many small shops and bakeries, and after sitting in the bus for a while and getting hungry I regretted not having grabbed a snack.

I followed the GPS receiver as the distance to the hashpoint got smaller and smaller. When there were only a few hundred metres left, I started to take video of the screen and was pleasantly surprised to get a reading of zero metres. I was also expecting a Speed racer achievement, but the driver was only going 60 km/h while as far as I could tell the speed limit was 70 km/h. Oh well, this was already cool enough.

I got off at the next bus stop and began walking back. Since I had almost an hour to spend, I took my time trying to take pictures using a headlamp and the phone's torch as light sources. It could have worked if there had been snow on the ground, but now in early-ish spring I felt like I was surrounded by black bodies. Well, I could get something in the pictures, but none of them were very good.

After walking to the hashpoint and documenting the visit, I continued towards the nearest bus stop. I walked a bit past it to the junction to see if there was something interesting to photograph, and I almost had a heart attack when I heard a bus approaching. There was still about five minutes to my bus's scheduled arrival, but believing it could be ahead of schedule (which happens more often than I would like) I ran towards it and flagged it down. I only then realised it was another bus and after exchanging a few words with the driver figured out that it did not go to Prague, so I stepped away and waited for the correct bus. I was startled enough that I could not quickly form a coherent sentence in Czech, but I guess the driver understood what I meant. This time I stayed put and waited for bus 387 which eventually arrived right on time.

I rode the bus to Háje, then took metro C to Kačerov and finally bus 138 to Krč. I had plenty of time to write this report while travelling and finished it after getting to my flat. The whole trip took almost four and a half hours in total.
