Location

On a forest path around Schönbrunn barrage, Thuringia, Germany. This path is part of the Schönbrunn barrage roundtrip and part of the Thüringer Lutherweg (regional walking network).

South 250m at the viewpoint you get a wonderful view to the water dam. Another 750m southeast, standing on the dam, you get a very nice panorama view.

Expedition: Juja

I had waited for quite some time for a Geohash like this one, and it was just perfect: on a weekend when I would be at my parents', in convenient skiing distance and there was good snow. So let's go! Started after breakfast and trudged up the hill through untouched (and, accordingly, pretty deep) snow, then had a swift descent down Kreisebergweg until I turned in Hash direction and had to go through deep snow again for quite a while. Anyway, found the Geohash and marked it for later hashers, then I could use my own track for the way back and came home right on time for lunch. Yay!

Last wintry civilization outpost.   And on it goes on untouched snow...   ...uphill...   ...to "Fünfarmiger Wegweiser" (five-armed signpost)...   ...and to the point.   Davey at my Ski Geohash.   Marked the spot (but took the X home).   How nice, someone made me a track!   I was in mortal danger? Good to know.

Expedition: Manu, Reinhard and Pico

Just a 12 km drive and the chance for a quiet winter walk including some long sledding sections were reasons enough for Manu, Reinhard and Pico to get to this hashpoint. All the way there from the parking place at the bottom of the dam, they had to walk (or be carried) uphill. 200 m to the hash ski tracks were joining our way and we wondererd, whether Juja had come here before us. Obviuously she had, as we could take from the tracks ending right at the hashpoint near a large xkcd sign in the snow. We took our photos and had much fun going back down with our sleds.

Haribo earned the Walk geohash Achievement by reaching the (50, 10) geohash on 2016-01-23 on foot, travelling a distance of 10.7 km.

How come there is no official ski geohash achievement?! Thanks Tilley for creating one...

Juja earned the cross-country skiing achievement by skiing 17.8 km to and from the (67, 24) geohash on 2014-03-04.
