GECO has us at 98 expedition successes (131 expeditions). [[User:NWoodruff|NWoodruff]] and the [[Most active graticules]] page has us at 99 expedition successes (143 expeditions), which I believe to be accurate (pending recount). So our next Seattle graticule expedition could be our 100th success - who's in? --[[User:Thomcat|Thomcat]] 11:59, 18 December 2012 (EST)

We used to use this for expedition planning. Anyhow, decent hashpoint for Saturday the 10th - come join us at 4pm! --[[User:Thomcat|Thomcat]] ([[User talk:Thomcat|talk]]) 18:38, 10 February 2024 (UTC)

::I knew OtherJack was in - I don't suppose you'd be interested in auditing the Seattle Expeditions? I think the missing <strike>April</strike> March 15th expedition is the difference between GECO and Most Active. --[[User:Thomcat|Thomcat]] 17:48, 18 December 2012 (EST)

:Anyone else interested in a 100th geohash? Special '''end-of-the-world''' coordinates available on Friday, which covers the weekend in case of Mayan failure. --[[User:Thomcat|Thomcat]] 19:28, 18 December 2012 (EST)

::Recount complete, hanging chad suitably thumped. Had a few photos to upload, and still have a few more, but wanted to get this report out. I checked 157 expeditions and found that the Seattle graticule has 100 successes, failed to reach the coordinates 35 times, planned 11 more expeditions, and explored alternate meetups 9 times. GECO is a little off, and it will take more work to track down how. --[[User:Thomcat|Thomcat]] 16:49, 19 December 2012 (EST)

At the junction of the Burke-Gilman Trail and Sammamish River Trail in Bothell. : Nice. Welcome to geohashing! You can find some tips for writing up expeditions in [[A beginner's guide]] and [[Expedition]]. I got you started by creating [[2019-07-07 47 -122]] and linking to it from [[Seattle, Washington]]. To sign posts on talk pages (or anywhere else), type four tildes <code><nowiki>~~~~</nowiki></code> which when saved will expand into your username and the date. Visited the location as a retro-expedition on the way home from work. Completely achievable. Would be nice to have a photo, but not necessary to call this expedition a success. Friday is almost certainly in the back corner of the property at [http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/3404-26th-Pl-SE-Puyallup-WA-98374/49271049_zpid/ 3404 26th Pl] in Puyallup. Saturday is the front of a house in Poulsbo, Sunday a property near Poulsbo - perhaps an outbuilding? Hard to say from the satellite photo. I'll be driving by the house in Puyallup tonight on my way to a buddy's house on South Hill. --[[User:Thomcat|Thomcat]] 09:43, 26 October 2012 (EDT)

Two Pierce County hashpoints - Saturday in some woods at the end of a cul de sac in Steilacoom, and Sunday inside someone's house south of Tacoma near Route 7. I could potentially do either... Saturday relatively late, around 6pm or later, but much more flexible time wise on Sunday. Post if you're interested in either... -- [[User:OtherJack|OtherJack]] 15:34, 19 October 2012 (EDT)

Early hoping - committing my thoughts to electrons. Friday or Saturday should be either at the Evergreen State College or somewhere between Buckley and Bonney Lake. Sunday's hash point should clearly be on NE Pinewood Drive in East Bremerton. Regardless of where they are, it's time for a Seattle Rain Geohash this weekend. --[[User:Thomcat|Thomcat]] 14:54, 11 October 2012 (EDT)

:Okay, here's what we actually got. A "birds eye" from the East shows Friday's point to be on the shore of a pond south of Pacific Lutheran. Saturday is near the top of a ridge on the Olympic Peninsula, and neighboring graticules also look inaccessible. Sunday is likely on private property in Skyway. --[[User:Thomcat|Thomcat]] 09:55, 12 October 2012 (EDT)

Happy 10th anniversary of Geohashing! Today's spot is in the water of Puget Sound. I hope to be visiting a geohash somewhere in the graticule on May 23rd, my 10th [[Hashiversary_achievement|Hashiversary]]. Of course then Friday is [[Towel_Day_achievement|Towel day]] and then Saturday is [[Geohashing_Day|Mouse over day]], so there will be more geohashing this week. Excited? :Actually, Sunday's one graticule north, which is closer than "our" point, is smack in the middle of Lake Stevens (the lake).  Earlier today I tried to see if anyone rented boats there, but the internet + calling a few people made it clear that they don't.  Oh well.  I also could have biked to today's (Sat) but decided to stay home and do other stuff.  -- [[User:OtherJack|OtherJack]] 02:41, 23 September 2012 (EDT)

Up a mountain on the peninsula, likely private property on the peninsula, or likely private property in Tacoma. Take your pick - none are particularly exciting. Saturday's geohash one graticule east is just south of Index and basically right on Highway 2, and two graticules south the geohash is just across the river from Battleground, near what looks like a Christmas Tree farm. I'm up for an alternate meetup if you've got some ideas. Cheers! --[[User:Thomcat|Thomcat]] 10:12, 7 September 2012 (EDT)

Seriously cool expedition today, at the bottom of the bluffside trail on Maury Island - if it's above water. Low tide was a few hours ago, and again at 7:20 tonight, when it will be quite dark. I plan to hit this as a retrohash someday, probably in the summertime. --[[User:Thomcat|Thomcat]] ([[User talk:Thomcat|talk]]) 15:22, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
:Sunday's south of Tacoma is actually right on the fence line of a large apartment complex... that shouldn't be that hard!  We could be anyone.  And even if it's on the other side of the fence, that appears to be a driveway, not someone's backyard or anything. I think this is doable, and if I'm feeling up to it I'll bike down there, and take the 578 back.  Time TBA/flexible... -- [[User:OtherJack|OtherJack]] 14:30, 7 September 2012 (EDT)

Saturday's Snoqualmie point looks interesting, in the mountains but only about 2 miles (crow flies) up a valley from a forest service road. I was thinking of going to look at some hiking maps to see if there's a trail up that valley (or do you know yourself whether there is?)  If you're feeling less ambitious / have less time, we could meet at the spring in Licton Springs Park, 9536 Ashworth Ave N... I've always meant to check it out sometime..-- [[User:OtherJack|OtherJack]] 13:05, 3 August 2012 (EDT)

Saturday in the Snoqualmie graticule looks to be quite near the Preston Snoqualmie trail, which apparently has a view of the falls near the Snoqualmie end. Sunday here is in Everett, near Silver Lake, with a 7-11 just across the freeway. Hopefully I can make the latter, weather and plans preclude the former for me. --[[User:Thomcat|Thomcat]] ([[User talk:Thomcat|talk]]) 09:55, 22 January 2016 (EST)

Friday and Sunday are out on the peninsula - today is particularly wet. Regarding Saturday, in the far south end, take a look at the satellite photo. What is that thing just SW of the hashpoint? [http://activegeohasher.com/geohash/2012-07-21/47/-122 AG link] None of the surrounding roads show up on the google or peeron map either. OSM thinks it's part of the airbase. --[[User:Thomcat|Thomcat]] 09:41, 20 July 2012 (EDT)

:Zillow and Bing maps confirm that it's part of the military base; google needs to get their maps up to snuff. Street view shows the roads leading to it as fenced also. My guess - a former military camp site - current zillow shows it to be a flat field. Another Saturday out of bounds! --[[User:Thomcat|Thomcat]] 10:45, 20 July 2012 (EDT)

Friday's is out in a field somewhere that may-or-may-not-be thwarted by clear and obvious No Trespassing signs.  We could probably gain easy access to Friday's in the daylight, but I'm not sure I'd risk getting shot at at night...which is a shame, because I'm sure there would be somewhere nice to camp around here too.  It's about 250m from a road, right past obvious houses, but approaching from the northwest could work I guess (if you're a ninja).

Saturday's looks like it's along a not-quite-private road, which may or may not be in someone's back yard; Bing Maps has more hopeful roads than Google Maps, and it looks like they go around it rather helpfully.  Google's map view shows a big, unoccupied looking land plat.  This is reachable.  It's also about 3km from Friday's.

Sunday's is a bit west of Bremerton, and looks like it has alligators, about 30m off "shore" if you could call it that.  A small kayak should suffice.

Not sure I can make any of these though.  --[[User:Traveller|Traveller]] 13:37, 23 March 2012 (EDT)

I could go Saturday but wouldn't be able to leave Seattle til after 3.  Today I'm working and Sunday I'm doing something else most of the day (and don't have a kayak or anything of the sort...)  - [[User:OtherJack|OtherJack]] 14:07, 23 March 2012 (EDT)

Likewise on the busy-ness here.  Friday = can't leave 'til 8:30PM, Saturday = need to be in Bellevue 9:30-11:00 so no camping (unless it's a super early morning), Sunday = need to be in Lynnwood at 3:00 onward.  I'm up for Saturday if we're real excited about going, but it might be worth it to hold off for a later event on our side of the water.

Then again, if a west-side hasher wants to show up, I'm all for heading over there.  --[[User:Traveller|Traveller]] 14:27, 23 March 2012 (EDT)

I'm also kind of on the fence... don't really feel like driving there and i'd be leaving way too late for biking to be fun.  If you drive there I might hitch a ride.  I don't think there are any kitsap or olympic area hashers though unfortunately... - [[User:OtherJack|OtherJack]] 14:46, 23 March 2012 (EDT)

At the junction of the Burke-Gilman Trail and Sammamish River Trail in Bothell. I've passed through there before (so I guess I could claim a tracklog Déjà vu) but I wasn't planning on that long of a bike ride today. Coyotebush (talk) 15:28, 7 July 2019 (UTC)

We found it! Our first geohash : ) Am I supposed to like post a selfie taken at the site or something? This is SubRosa - my name didn’t show up blue? I may not be doing this right.

Nice. Welcome to geohashing! You can find some tips for writing up expeditions in A beginner's guide and Expedition. I got you started by creating 2019-07-07 47 -122 and linking to it from Seattle, Washington. To sign posts on talk pages (or anywhere else), type four tildes ~~~~ which when saved will expand into your username and the date. Coyotebush (talk) 21:41, 7 July 2019 (UTC)

Happy 10th anniversary of Geohashing! Today's spot is in the water of Puget Sound. I hope to be visiting a geohash somewhere in the graticule on May 23rd, my 10th Hashiversary. Seriously cool expedition today, at the bottom of the bluffside trail on Maury Island - if it's above water. Low tide was a few hours ago, and again at 7:20 tonight, when it will be quite dark. I plan to hit this as a retrohash someday, probably in the summertime. --Thomcat (talk) 15:22, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

Another Bremerton location. Farther from the ferry (hmm, might be a good chance to try out the new fast ferry), but closer to the road. Reachable by public transit or bicycle. Coyotebush (talk)

  • Bike looks hard, bus looks great. I'm going for it. Coyotebush (talk) 20:35, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

Within a mile of the Bremerton ferry terminal. Which makes it technically within bicycle range for me. Weather is iffy though, and the front yard the point lies in looks a bit overgrown. Coyotebush (talk) 01:49, 13 May 2017 (UTC)

In a Salmon Bay marina. A quick water geohash if someone has a boat; paddling across from the 14th Ave NW ramp would do the trick. --Coyotebush (talk) 03:48, 26 March 2017 (UTC)

You have your choice of a parking lot in Woodinville or joining a carpool to a globalhash in Astoria. While not locked in yet, I definitely favor the latter. I *suppose* you could also do both. --Thomcat (talk) 18:36, 29 April 2016 (UTC)

Apr 9

Bellevue Golf Course - anyone up for a round? --Thomcat (talk) 13:54, 8 April 2016 (UTC)

Jan 23/24

Saturday in the Snoqualmie graticule looks to be quite near the Preston Snoqualmie trail, which apparently has a view of the falls near the Snoqualmie end. Sunday here is in Everett, near Silver Lake, with a 7-11 just across the freeway. Hopefully I can make the latter, weather and plans preclude the former for me. --Thomcat (talk) 09:55, 22 January 2016 (EST)

I did make the latter, and was perhaps the only expedition that day. --Thomcat (talk) 09:52, 25 January 2016 (EST)

Sept 22

On the grounds of Tacoma Community College, near the Japanese Friendship Garden. Anyone want to give it a visit? --Thomcat (talk) 09:43, 22 September 2015 (EDT)

Sept 18-20

Friday September 18 is a decent spot, between Murphy's corner and Archbishop Murphy High School. I'll bet those two are related... --Thomcat (talk) 11:14, 18 September 2015 (EDT)

June 8

Interesting point on Tacoma's waterfront; I encourage someone to go see it. http://geohashing.info/20150608/c22zrkt9/17/c22uvnr3 --Thomcat (talk) 09:42, 8 June 2015 (EDT)

May 29-31

Today's Logan Park looks decent; tomorrow it's probably ambassador near Juanita Woodlands park. Sunday is deep woods on the peninsula; will look elsewhere. --Thomcat (talk) 09:40, 29 May 2015 (EDT)

April 24-26

Three decent points this weekend, two at opposite corners of the graticule. Friday has us in Olympia, Saturday near Snoqualmie (in a farmer's field), and Sunday right downtown. Definitely going to the last one, but ping here if you are interested in the other two. --Thomcat (talk) 09:41, 24 April 2015 (EDT)

April 11

April 10th and 12th have that edge-of-the graticule minesweeper appeal, but are otherwise unattractive. April 11th is on Seattle Hill Road in Mill Creek - definitely worth an afternoon visit. Say, 4pm? --Thomcat (talk) 11:00, 10 April 2015 (EDT)

Christmas Eve & Christmas, 2014

Center graticule means splash for us, so unless you are a fish, I wish you all a Merry Christmas! --Thomcat (talk) 09:38, 24 December 2014 (EST)

Goodbye peoples!!

I am moving away from this graticule on Monday the 1st... and none of the points through then look convenient to me, so I probably won't see any of you in person. It's been a great couple of years though! -- OtherJack (talk) 14:06, 29 August 2014 (EDT)

May you either find better geohashing... or take your curse with you! :) --Thomcat (talk) 21:51, 29 August 2014 (EDT)
It will be the former! -- OtherJack (talk) 22:07, 29 August 2014 (EDT)
Farewell, Jack! I'm glad I was able to meet you--and hit the July 10 globalhash! Truly an epic adventure, as hashing goes. :) -- Rex Wolf (talk) 00:34, 30 August 2014 (EDT)
I know, and it was great to meet you too! Keep hashing in Vancouver (and try to bring the others there out of hibernation...) -- OtherJack (talk) 23:02, 2 September 2014 (EDT)
