The Zürich graticule is located at latitude 47, longitude 8. Zürich, the biggest city in Switzerland, is located more or less in the center of the graticule. It further contains the cities of Winterthur, Lucerne and Schaffhausen.

Around two third of its area are within Switzerland whereas the northern part belongs to Germany. Other mentionable geographical features are the origin of the Danube river near Donaueschingen, the river Rhine that cuts the area from east to west, and the beginning of the Alpine mountain range in the very south east of the graticule.
