Location

A field in Feldafing, Starnberg District, Bavaria. Luckily, it’s not access restricted!

Expedition

This was my first expedition, so I was quite excited to witness the thrill of Geohashing! At 11:35, I reached Munich Central Station, from where I took the regional train to Tutzing, and then rode the S-Bahn one stop back towards Feldafing. As Feldafing is also reachable by S-Bahn directly from Munich, the regional train wasn’t exactly necessary – but I like those, and sitting in an S-Bahn carriage for more than fifteen minutes is a guarantee for instant back pain. It didn’t even cost me a single additional cent thanks to the student ticket! From there on, reaching the hash was merely a matter of following the street plan of the town – and voilà, I got there at 13:03. Considering the snow on the field, putting on my winter boots was definitely a good idea, but nevertheless, it was still too warm to qualify for a Frozen Geohash achievement. I don’t think that particular field is used for agricultural purposes, so it wasn’t too muddy either. The house and barn which are visible on Google Maps at this spot should probably be proof enough – luckily, no one was in the house at that time to wonder why the hell someone was standing on the grass and taking pictures!

Anyway, the view from the train of Lake Starnberg and the Alps in the background is simply majestic and already made this whole expedition worth it.
