Plans

Sourcerer noted that he would be passing this conveniently-placed hashpoint at about 8am on his way to the airport, and created the expedition page in preparation. Benjw had nothing much to do at 8:00 on a Sunday morning, so added his name to the meetup.

The expedition

Sourcerer

WooHoo! After 36 lonely expeditions, Sourcerer finally got to meet another Geohasher on outing 37. Thank you Benjw for making an early Sunday start to make this possible. Sourcerer, Neil, was flying from London, Luton to Nîmes, France today and this hashpoint added only 7 miles to the 1297 km Journey. Sorry about the mixed units. It was a drive-through geohash making the Speed Racer achievement possible. We met at about 07:50am and hung around long enough to take some photos.

Sadly the Sunday and Monday hashpoints in Nîmes, France are both in the sea! The good news is the hotel WiFi works well enough to check out the future days.

Benjw

Ben was not at all put out by his early Sunday start and welcomed the chance to meet another hasher. He was up and out of the house ahead of schedule, and left Cambridge on a route he knew well, and that would take him within a few hundred metres of the hashpoint. All that was needed was to turn left at the appropriate roundabout, park up and find the hash.

First, though, Ben drove slowly up the road to find the exact spot. As expected, it turned out to be on the tarmac, so he turned round and drove back through the hashpoint, this time at the legal speed limit of 30 mph. That done, the entrance to a field provided a helpful parking spot, and Ben went to find the point again, this time on foot.

Photos were taken, and just as he was finishing this, another car turned up the road and parked next to Ben's. It turned out to be Sourcerer, who was also ahead of schedule. The two hashers exchanged greetings, compared the hashpoint location on their GPSs, took photos and, given Sourcerer's need to get to the airport, departed.

Since Ben was up and about, he then took the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely drive through the morning mists to the Northampton hashpoint.
