Expedition
With this expedition, Karl_77 introduced a new hasher, TdL, to the great sport of geohashing.
They started at Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof an took a train to Mannheim. They changed the train and went to Worms, a really ugly city. The transfer time was 30 minutes, so Karl_77 and TdL decided to go for a short walk in a little park near the station. They found one of the smallest graveyards in the world with just about seven tombstones. They walked around for a little bit longer but didn't find anything interesting and finally went back to the bus station.
The bus seemed to take forever to get to Westhofen, it drove trough many little villages and had to slow down several times as there were many tractors along the way
Finally Karl_77 and TdL got off the bus in Westheim and walked the remaining 800 metres to the hash point. It was right between some vines in a vineyard. Karl_77 had planned to get the Fly a Kite Achievement but he had to give it up as there was a power line near the hash point. Flying a kite would have been way too dangerous.
After they had taken some pictures from the hash point, TdL and Karl_77 decided that it would be very nice to have a wine from the vineyard they just visited. So they walked to the main building of the vineyard and knocked on the door. A old woman opened a window and told them that they had no wine left and that they only sell it in big cans to industrial consumers. So unfortunately there was no wine to bring home.
On their way back Karl_77 and TDL had an entire bus for themselves. Karl_77 had a long conversation about Worms, driving busses and geohashing. The bus driver seemed very interested and loved the idea of geohashing. He also liked the idea of getting a hashpoint while driving in his bus.
At Worms mainstation TDL and Karl_77 had lunch and then got on the train back to Mannheim where they changed to a train to Heidelberg. It was a funny and easy expedition, perfect for the first trip of TdL.
Karl_77 tested a new tracklog program on his Android phone - and it failed. At home Karl_77 noticed that the program thought the trip was in Africa, which obviously wasn't the case. So the search for a good tracklog program continues...
Tracklog
Due to technical problems, there is no tracklog for this expedition.
