Expedition one of three spanning midnight - 2015-12-01 52 1 - 2015-05-05 52 1 Retro - 2015-12-02 52 1 - ETA 23:00. The point looks as though it's on the border between a private garden and the parkland. Leaning over the fence might be needed. A retro expedition might be unavoidable.

All went well until the start of the stupidity distance. As all hobbits know, NEVER LEAVE THE PATH! Well I had to leave the path and crawl and stoop through a tunnel of thorns up a steep slope. The path improved again and the GPS distance dropped to two metres before going up again. Reception conditions were unstable. After posting the evidence photo and arrival message, there had to be an easier way back to the path. It took 18 minutes for me to travel to the retrohash just over 100 metres away. I was blundering about trying to find a better route down the steep slope in the pitch dark. All the routes looked suicidal. Eventually I gave up and returned to the thorn tunnel which was passable but much harder downhill. I walked back to the road via the retrohash which had moved a few metres to the other side of the path. Then I had a mini-panic. I couldn't see my parked car. There was a trick of the terrain. After an initially invisible bend, all was well.
