About

The hash was located in a neighborhood off of I85, in Lawrenceville. The actual hashpoint was about 50 feet from the road, and by a moderate stroke of luck it fell in a vacant lot amongst all of the houses. Conditions were overcast and cold, about 38º F. This is a red-letter hashpoint for the Atlanta graticule, as it was the site of the first meetup between geohashers in the area. This quite clearly marks the transition into, nay, the dawn of a new era in Atlanta geohashing.

Expedition

Woodveil

This particular geohash was exciting as it was our first to 1.) occur at 4:00 and 2.) hold the potential of meeting another geohasher. Nick also decided to attempt the circus geohash through his juggling abilities. We left downtown Atlanta by car around 3:15, arriving at the hashpoint around 3:45. We were a bit early, and didn't hesitate to seize the opportunity to earn another geoTrash achievement. (Hey, add that to the list of cover stories. Who's going to tell you to leave if you're cleaning up the hashpoint?) Sure enough, NWoodruff showed up at 4:00. Introductions were made, photos were taken, and amusingly, both Nick and NWoodruff successfully achieved the Circus geohash.

NWoodruff

I was going to attempt a bicycle geohash. But as 3pm rolled around it was still hovering a few degrees above freezing. The weather channel said 45 degrees and sunny. With out the sun shining, and freezing cold, I decided to drive. I left my house about 3:45pm and showed up a few minutes before 4pm.

It was great to finally meet other geohashers. As I drove up looking for where the hash point would be, it was refreshing to see Woodveil already there. Introductions were made, and the hash point found.

I attempted the circus geohash because it is very hard to take a picture of yourself while juggling.
