Expedition

thepiguy & MylSh

Despite the amazing Vancouver weather, thepiguy and MylSh left UBC via car around 15:00. What should have been an easy drive turned out to be a little more challenging, as they ended up taking the least efficient directly-through-the-busiest-most-crowded-part-of-town rout. They made it out of the madness and began driving in the direction of nothing.

As they made the final turn on to the geohash road, thepiguy realized he had no idea how far along the road to drive. Since all they knew was that the geohash was in a parking lot, he immediately pulled into the first available lot and turned on the GPS. The geohash was still 400m away, but thepiguy is not one to wast a successful parking job, so they abaondonded the vehicle and proceeded on foot.

They proceeded a very short distance before finding their way blocked by a passing train. "Seriously? A train?!" exclaimed thepiguy "What is this? Europe?" Europe or not, they both sat down on the sidewalk and waited for what turned out to be a very long train. Once passed they continued on their way, jumping Indiana Jones style across the gap in the side walk.

Once they located the correct parking lot and the coordinates, they went about the usual business. thepiguy chalked the ground, and shared his Nibbs while MylSh made hand puppets in the sun. 16:00 came and went but with no other geohashers in site they decided to make their exit. Before leaving however, thepiguy decided that -- in a graticule covered by mountains, ocean and bears -- he couldn't miss the opportunity to actually park his mothers car in a parking stall on the geohash. They roamed back to their car and drove the short distance back to the coordinates only to find a second vehicle suspiciously circling the lot.

Rhonda & Xore

... were also there!

Everyone!

Everyone quickly left their respective geohashing vehicles and excitedly exchanged greetings. Xore and thepiguy remarked that the last time they had seen each other had been in Paris and how strange that was.

The ensuing geohashing activities included but were not limited to: a small hashscot assembly, MylSh and Xore almost killing each other while fighting over the single piece of geotrash, thepiguy practicing some acrobatic martial art skills to finally earn his circus achievement, a quick planning session to coordinate the next days meetup, and a few long discussions on various other topics.
