Earliest geohasher achievement

Revision as of 19:15, 21 April 2009 by imported>Robyn (see also: Virgin graticule)

The First Geohasher achievement can be claimed by submitting photographic (or otherwise digitally expressible) proof of being the first geohasher at an official (not alternate, not even if it's got 50 votes) geohashing meetup. The First Geohasher achievement is only awarded for meetups where more than one geohasher shows up. As this was not stated prior to 2008-09-11, some awards have been granted for single-geohasher meetups; these awards are not to be revoked.

If you arrive prior to the official meetup time (4pm local time), you're expected to make a sign or otherwise prepare the area for other geohashers. While arriving late is not encouraged, if you plan to arrive early, and arrive late due to blizzards, volcanoes, or the like, you may qualify for the MNIMB achievement. (And you may qualify for both, if the weaker ones make it at all!)

If you are a member of the first meetup (of any number of people) to reach coordinates in that graticule ever, everyone at the meetup qualifies for the Virgin Graticule achievement.
