Can you upload any pictures from this expedition? -- Jevanyn (talk) 12:30, 19 December 2013 (EST)

Sorry, forgot. I'll check if I still have any of those around.
Oh, and before anyone asks, I won't be going on tomorrow's geohash (2013-12-21); while it's the closest in, IIRC, over a week, it's still right on the opposite edge of the city.
Coincidentally, what do you think about my "graticule names" page, and do you have any comments? --January First-of-May (talk) 11:50, 20 December 2013 (EST)

2020-07-22 global

Tomorrow's globalhash is only a few graticules away from you. It looks like it is on a path, so it should be accessible if you are able to travel there. --Fippe (talk) 13:43, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

It looks extremely reachable, but I'm not really enough of a random-adventurer to drive away to Tula Oblast on short notice (don't even have a car), and the extremely nearby railway station apparently doesn't serve passenger trains at the moment OK, it might (I'll try to work out a theoretical schedule), but still not going there on my one free day in Moscow. It will probably be a nice one to do as a retro, though (possibly the nicest retro global anywhere near Moscow).
I'll contact the other two geohashers in the Moscow area that I know of, but I doubt they could get there either. --January First-of-May (talk) 21:13, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
Checked the schedules. A theoretical globalhasher starting in Moscow would have to:
  • Take the 11:15 bus to Yefremov;
  • Be stuck in Yefremov for about two hours;
  • Take the 16:50 train to Tovarkovo;
  • Be stuck in Tovarkovo (and the hash area) for another two hours;
  • Take the 21:30 train to Yefremov;
  • Be stuck in Yefremov for about two hours again;
  • Take the 01:30 bus and be in Moscow at 5 in the morning.
There are faster routes, but they seem to depend on buses I couldn't find good data for, and/or long-distance trains that might not have enough places on that short notice. --January First-of-May (talk) 21:44, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

Discord

I'd join a server if you made one (if you'd like to add me, the alphabetic part of my handle is Arlo James Barnes Lacuna Morituri, and the numeric part #2369). Or a Matrix room. Arlo (talk) 01:49, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

I have no idea what a Matrix room is, and I suspect that a Discord server with like two people in it would be boring (and once it gets bigger, I probably couldn't afford to moderate). But sure. What should I do to make a new Discord server? --January First-of-May (talk) 09:27, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
It's easy to transfer moderatorship if needed. Up to you of course, but creating a server is easy and doesn't carry an obligation. It is done by clicking the plus icon in the left column with the server icons, and then selecting 'create server'. Or I could do it if you prefer. Matrix is another chat protocol, no need to worry about it if you don't use it. Arlo (talk) 15:39, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
Request sent, thanks! --January First-of-May (talk) 16:44, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

Would you be able to provide an invite link to the server somewhere (on the Discord page, for example)? XXOs (talk) 04:15, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

It's possible. You can also send a message and or friend request to "Lacuna Morituri#2369" (that's me). Arlo (talk) 06:12, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
OK, just did that. My username is the same as the one on here, and the number part is #1317. XXOs (talk) 22:13, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
For what it's worth, my username on Discord is, for some weird reason I no longer remember, "Lothario O'Leary" (number 7999). --January First-of-May (talk) 01:50, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
