The Place

Out in the middle of nowhere (or at least it seemed that way!), a good 40 minutes walk from Falmer train station. Couldn't get to the area exactly because (Google maps lied and) the final field now houses sheep and has an electric fence by the perimiter (wasn't up to passing it). Despite the winds and grey clouds looming overhead, the weather held.

I didn't see anyone else there at 15:27, but left a little XKCD sign out of small rocks in case anyone else made it later - as tradition dictates!

(I was at the station for 14:30, but I guess I didn't see you, Mat... I was the one with the camo bandanna! =P) GoldElite 18:10, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Ah, were you holding a printout of the map or something? I think it might have been you I saw. Also, I was rubbish and didn't leave a sign or anything wherever we ended up. :( Mat 19:28, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Yep, that was me and my crummy cropped-printscreen-Google-maps document =) Also, there ended up being a sign, so all is okay -- besides, you had bubble liquid!! =D GoldElite 13:30, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Mat's attempt

(On reading the above I am now unsure if we actually made it, but we got close)

I got to falmer station about 2:30 but I had to wait another half hour for my friend James. I saw someone who could have been a possible geohasher but I didn't investigate (I'm very shy) and I never saw him again.

We got there quicker than I expected - arrived at about 4 after mostly following the route I'd worked out beforehand using the google map. We couldn't pinpoint the exact location but we narrowed it down to a field which was good enough for me. We didn't see anyone else there, and it wasn't a very interesting field, so we left after about half an hour when it started to look it was gonna rain.

On the way back we followed a path/road south until we got to the main road, then found our way back to falmer quite easily. Mat 18:18, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
