This was another forlorn attempt. Sasha and I had landed on the island of Ukerewe Island on the morning of the hash from the ferry, disembarking at Nansio.

We had plenty of time that day and I had already known about the geohash location. I went to a bike shop to see if we could easily get bikes and to my surprise they were hirable and cheap. I spent some time considering going to get the geohash - my first in Africa and a general first for Tanzania.

However, the 60km return trip, with all the surprises geohashing usually throws up, I decided it wasn't worth doing. It would have been a long and stressful day for us both and we were already pretty tired and it would have been a bit mean to leave Sasha on her own for the day if I were to do it myself.

Instead we hired the bikes for the next day and rode to another part of the island. Photo attached.

To this day (October, 2021), I often think back wistfully at what could have been at this hash.
