Plans
I've been wanting to try this virgin graticule for a while, and today's coordinates not only looked like they would be reachable, but looked to be quite near a good fishing spot. A bit of research on google indicated that the reservoir was open for fishing, and contained yellow perch and several varieties of trout. So the plan was to drive out there, grab the hash, and then fish until about midnight.
Expedition
I got off work reasonably early, so when I got home I asked my wife if she wanted to go fishing. She said yes, so we loaded our fishing gear in the back of the car and set out. We stopped at an A&W to grab food in Fruitland. The drive was pleasant, and we saw some wild (and not-so-wild) animals, including numerous pheasants, some sage grouse, a flock of turkeys, more cows than I could easily count, and a herd of elk.
The last 20 miles or so was on gravel roads. We weren't making quite as good of time as we had hoped, but otherwise, everything was going great. Until we got to the last turn to reach our destination. There was a gate across the road, which was locked. Since we had come so far, we didn't give up immediately. The map showed another access road which could get us to the reservoir for fishing, if not to the hash. However, that road was similarly closed.
Disappointed, we made our way back home without success in either of the primary goals of our expedition.
