Plans
Most stressful expedition I ever planned... but my 9-year-old bus/train pass expires on the 31st along with my High school student status, so I'll try to take advantage of it while I still can!
Sooo... the hash is reachable by a public trail. So far, all good.
This said, the public trail is only reachable by entering the E.Mach Agricultural Institute and walking through vineyards, and to be honest I don't know which areas will be accessible. After a good while spent looking for a solution, I noticed a road outside the campus' limits with no gates, fences or private property signs. All the fencing around the institute shown on Google Maps is not really encouraging, but at least I assumed that if something isn't fenced, then it must be free to access. I'll bring a poster to make sure- I hope Agricultural academics are more open-minded about the internet compared to the average farmer in my area.
I will leave Trento by intercity bus at 16.00, get to S.Michele in half an hour. I gave myself a hour and a half to reach the hash and come back to the station- I'll take the 18.00 FTM train back to Trento.
Expedition
This will live in infamy and be for centuries referred to as the most embarassing expedition ever.
I carefully checked I had everything before leaving home. Imagine the scene: Cellphone, check. GPS, check. Camera, check. MP3, check. Wallet, check. Bus pass, check. Keys, check.
The trip to S. Michele was fine. It was only when I was approaching the Agricultural Institute that I realized that I hadn't written the coordinates, nor had saved them on the GPS. That already happened to me once, which is a very good hint of how forgetful I can be at times. In the Egna expedition though, my sister almost saved me by texting me the coordinates from home. Alas, this time she wasn't home. So that was it. I thought to take at least some photos of the area, but then I realized I forgot the memory card at home. It clearly was a no day, but hey the Trento graticule has got a new curse to talk about: the 104 curse, which is enunciated below:
Every time Werther takes bus 104 to go on an expedition, he has forgotten the most important things at home and won't be able to reach this hashpoint.
Will I be able to break this other curse? Only time will tell.
