Plans

Ironeagl (talk) : Originally, I dismissed this hash as it was on private property, but then I saw its location and with the recent release of the Namesake achievement I thought maybe it wasn't too far off the road anyways.

Expedition

Ironeagl (talk) : I left my home around midday, and journeyed near the hashpoint. I had already charted the point as being somewhere in a field, along a stream / ditch, so attempting depended on what type of crop was growing in it. The plot of land it is on looked to have an abandoned homestead, so chances were high that it was just rented out as a field, and as long as it wasn't planting, harvesting, or hunting season I would be able to sneak in and out undetected. Take only pictures, leave only footsteps!

However, as I turned onto the road next to the hashpoint I encountered the first issue: the road was not paved like it appeared to be on satellite, but was instead gravel. This meant that the noise of my car passing down the road would be audible to most of the neighborhood. Having lived in the countryside beforehand, there is definitely some "passive surveillance" that happens - you notice if a car stops in the road. The next issue I noticed is that the homestead that I knew was occupied was much closer in real life than in the satellite imagery, meaning they would definitely notice - if anyone was home. Then I saw a grizzled old man looking at me suspiciously from the front porch.

At that point I abandoned the expedition and returned home, only getting within a few hundred feet of the hashpoint.
