Expedition

We had planned on going down to Springville for J's cousin's kid's dance recital, and afterwords use the snowshoes for a nice hike out that way (so I wasn't planning on hitting an Official Saturday Hash). The day didn't start out great as it was a bit warm and rainy, but the weather report indicated it would be colder and should be snowing south of the city (higher elevation).

On the drive down, we stopped at the Geohash, or at least attempted to do so. I drove in from the north side and could see the parking lot had a new fence around it from this side (I was thinking that might be an option, just park and climb over the short wall between the parking lots) so we were forced to continue around the block to the entrance to the actual parking lot. Getting to that side, we were met again by another barrier, this time the new gate that went along with that new fence. I assume they got tired of people parking in their lot when they shouldn't be. With the way completely sealed off, we called this a No Trespassing and got back on our way. Thinking about it, if I was doing this myself and we didn't have plans otherwise, I might have gone inside and asked if I could access the parking lot.

The dance recital wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (based on the horror stories you hear about little kids and their shows), but when we got out, it was still raining. So we implemented our backup plan of still going to Ellicottville, but stopping at the brewery instead of the forest.
