Sunrise... sunset...
- Yep! Sure looks like it was near sunrise from your photo. I'll make the gratuitous ribbon after I upload my stuff. -- OtherJack (talk) 23:05, 3 February 2014 (EST)
The GPS Report
Calibration
I dug into the GPS menu on my Android phone, after a discussion with other local geohashers. My phone was consistently several meters off. After grabbing a free app that shows GPS status (and satellites and signal strength and other cool bits) I found a "recalibrate" in the tools section. Options to reset (dumping all prior data?) and re-download GPS data. Not sure what the difference was; I did the latter option. I then pulled up a spot in the parking lot at work; confirmed the GPS coords on both Google and Bing maps, then parked the car there. Both car GPS and Android GPS were in agreement and matched the spot to a very close degree. How close? I'll calculate that later and update.
Bonehead Move
I should have measured the car and Android GPS before I did the recalibration, to see what the delta was.
What I learned about GeohashDroid
OtherJack tweaked the Expedition label to give us each one, which is cool. GeohashDroid must key in on that tag, however - when I tried to post a message (which also includes GPS coords), it failed. The picture upload succeeded, however. Now that I look at the Recent Changes, I see the attempted post in the log also - just no change to the page.
Humble suggestion - we leave Expedition (within two pairs of equals signs) and add sub-headings for expeditions (within two sets of three equals signs). --Thomcat (talk) 02:06, 4 February 2014 (EST)
