Back to the Future Retrohash
I... didn't really know where to discuss this, but I think this talk page will do for now.
Usually retrohashes are quite boring. They are not unique, and you can just pick whichever. But on this day, 2015-10-21, we will have an unique opportunity. As this is one time only, it's not worth an achievement, but I'd like to pick up a nice gratuitous ribbon.
To quote Wikipedia: "On October 26, 1985, Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown arrives in his flying DeLorean time machine and persuades Marty McFly and his girlfriend, Jennifer Parker, to come back to the future with him to help their future children. Biff Tannen witnesses their departure. They arrive on October 21, 2015,"
So, it's simple. You receive a "Welcome back to the Future!" ribbon for visiting the October 26, 1985 hash on October 21, 2015. You can use this tool to find retrohashes in your area.
I think I will attempt it. I hope I can reach many others who will do the same. Let's make this a thing!
- Interestingly, today's geohash is quite close to that of October 26th 1985. I for one believe it is badge-worthy - you must visit the geohash for one particular date on one particular date -- in this case, they just aren't the same date. --Thomcat (talk) 15:45, 19 October 2015 (EDT)
- Bonus points if you reach the coordinates for 2015-10-21 on 1985-10-26. --Fippe 17:03, 19 October 2015 (EDT)
In case this is your first retrohash, please read the rules for reporting on one. Additonally, add [[Category:Back to the future]] to your report. I have put a link to that category on 2015-10-21, and after a report is up, I'll try to hack it into the main page gallery. --CO2 (talk) 02:54, 21 October 2015 (EDT)
Feel free to steal my ribbon design (click edit to copy the code):
| CO2 earned the Welcome Back to the Future Ribbon
You could add '|category = Back to the future' to the end there but that would add your userpage to the category if you place the ribbon there, which is not really the point of the category. Better to add the category to the expedition report manually.
