About 8km off the Harveys Range Developmental Road near a tributary of the Burdekin River. There are some tracks in the area which indicate somebody with a 4WD may be able to access although they don't look suitable for a sedan. The tributary will probably be filled with water at the moment.
This looks reasonably doable. Up behind the dam in amongst a series of properties that fall just off the Old Flinders Highway. There are a number of dirt roads that follow property boundries to about 200m from the site. The site appears to be on private property but it is probably worth a look anyway considering it is so close to the dam it may not be.
Twistie will be there at 4pm (weather permitting).
Matty wouldn't mind going for the trip. Missed out on the most awesome spot on Thursday. Unfortunately bereft of internet access, and reluctant to put contact details online. So I'll just skip this one as well. –Matty01:17, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Holy carp, what a piece of cake! If only it wasn't the middle of the week. You lazy non-working uni bludgers had better go to this one! 1km walk through semi-open scrubland right off the main highway. Side note: if you zoom in on google maps' satellite view, you can see half a train on the track.
Matty would so go, except he's at work until five, then has to pick up the kids from daycare, and doesn't really want to hike through 2km of scrub after dark. Also doesn't want to have to explain it to the wife. –Matty23:01, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
YawnWithExcitement will go take a look soon. 00:13, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Damnit, why do the DOW Jones/MD5 gods hate us so? Another gimme hash, a couple of hundred metres from an apparently decent-quality road, 2km from the highway. Looks like there's a gate just past the train tracks, but that may be a non-issue.
The road looks to be dirt, so the recent rain may cause issues, but even so, I'd give it a go if I didn't have to work! Stupid weekdays! –Matty22:07, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
