gHash beta testing?

Hey! Not sure how active you still are, or if you're still working on the gHash app, but if you are, would it be possible for me to be a beta tester? --XXOs (talk) 21:00, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

Sure!

Hi --XXOs, I'm still occasionally active in geohashing, and still keen to build the app eventually, but life has gotten in the way for the minute and so probably won't be doing anything with the app for a few months at least. But when I do get back to it, then absolutely yes, I'd be very happy to have a beta tester. I'll let you know when I get there. --BrendanTWhite (talk) 02:43, 21 October 2021 (UTC)

Also interested!

Hi! I’m new to geoHashing, and not sure if this app is still under development or if it is already developed. But if it still is under development I would love to be of help to beta test the iOS app! —Cinnaman Crab (talk) 19:29, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi Cinnaman Crab, it's still under development and not finished yet, and honestly probably won't be finished for a few months at least. But absolutely yes, I'd love to have you as a beta tester when it's ready. I'll let you know when we're at that stage. --BrendanTWhite (talk) 01:18, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for your work towards a mobile GeoHashing app on iOS! Please add me to the list of (future) beta testers. :-) -- pah U+110DB.png (talk) 15:06, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi pah , yes absolutely I will add you to the list! I don't expect to be back to working on this for a few months, but when I do, I'll let you know. Thanks!

I’m also very interested! Do we have any sort of planned release date for the beta? --SteveDesmos (talk) 16:09, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

I'm also interested in testing. --Leidenfrost (talk) 03:42, 13 February 2023 (UTC)

I’m interested in testing an iOS app. I’m familiar with some debugging, capturing bug reports.

I’m (finally!) back!

OK. Im finally ready to get back in to building my iPhone geohashing tool.

My current plan for the app is that it will show you the hashpoint on a map, and if you want to go there, you can click a button to go to Google Maps or Apple Maps, whichever one you use. Maybe also I’ll link to the Internet was Here poster for that expedition too.

One day I might link in to the wiki so that you can create the expedition wiki page directly from the app … but that will NOT be in version 1.0.

To everyone who expressed an interest - if you’re still keen, can I ask a couple of questions please?

1 - Can you tell me what version of iOS your phone is running please? You can go to the Settings app and click on General -> About, and it will tell you the “Software Version”, which will be a number like 14.2 or 16.0 or something.

2 - Can you think of anything else you’d like the app to do, apart from what I said above?

Thanks! :-)

(Pinging XXOs, Cinnaman Crab, pah, SteveDesmos, and Leidenfrost in case you’re still interested.)

This app is now in Discord (and Github)

The conversation on the gHash app (now renamed to oHash) has mostly moved to this Discord thread.

There is also now a Github repo for this app.
