We're a old-fashioned "diversified" farm: My dad grows a rotation of soybeans, corn, wheat, oats, and fescue (not necessarily in that order)on ~200 acres, but also has a small herd of beef cattle. I raise and maintain a flock of about 200 chickens and ducks, and I sell the eggs for supplemental income. Mom grows a vegetable garden in the summer to "can" veggies for the winter. We work with my uncle who runs a small hog farm, and trade meat and labor with him. On top of all that, we all have public jobs, as well (Dad works at DuPont, Mom is a middle school librarian, and I am a full-time grad student/part-time substitute teacher). -- DynamoNED 17:00, 27 February 2012 (EST)
