Check out today's coordinate for the Newport News graticule. If I'm not mistaken, that's Jefferson Lab! Is Ricky working there today? He should be made aware that he could probably earn the Restricted Area Geohash, or maybe even an honorable mention for the Cubicle Geohash (which would be awesome). - Really we could just use a definite figure on the weight and recalculate figures based on actual dimensions. We don't have any ready means of testing the counterweight's mass other than counterbalancing the arm with a known quantity, I just haven't done it yet as the thing needs a solid axle before anything else. The bend is an easy 5-10 degree bow in the main pivot - I'm planning to cannibalize the drive shaft of some old junker once a suitable junker is secured. Paint couldn't hurt; I've got some good rustoleum sprays and sealers that will help once I strip the surface rust off. Once all that's done, I think she'll live up to her name. Unless, of course, this particular trebuchet happens to identify as male.
