Welcome to the Geohashing community, and congratulations on your first expedition! --Fippe (talk) 12:51, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
I'd like to respond to your help request, what can I help you with? --Fippe (talk) 18:08, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
I'm having trouble figuring out how to upload two more photos to today's geohash. --Pica42
- You can upload photos over here, one at a time. In order to embed them on the expedition page, include the photo's name between the
gallery
tags on the Photos section of the expedition. --Fippe (talk) 22:06, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
What does it mean that you are "(Adding categories semi-manually)". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pica42 (talk • contribs) 2022-08-31T16:44:48
- Usually my bot adds categories automatically, but only if the file contains the exact name of the expedition and is linked from there. If not, I go through the semi-manual procedure once in a while: A script will take a look at where the file is linked from and the name, and suggest some categories. I then check if those categories are appropriate or if they should be different, and make the bot add them. --Fippe (talk) 18:23, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
For a couple of days I've been getting this screenshot so I can't find the location of today's geohash. Is there anything I can do about it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pica42 (talk • contribs) 2023-03-09T07:39:28
- I think there is a problem with www1.geo.crox.net, which the app uses as the source of the Dow Jones. I emailed Crox about the issue. Until it is fixed, you can use https://geohashing.info/ to determine the position of today's Geohash. --Fippe (talk) 12:02, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
- Crox has thankfully fixed the issue! It should work again. Does it work again for you? --Fippe (talk) 22:17, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
Everything works as it should. Thank you very much.--pica42
Today I was unable to register the Geohash while hunting at zero point. My mobile was not cooperative so I had to try to create the page on the PC after I got home. I believe that I have managed it and that I have not done anything illegal. Maybe you can check what I've done, please.
Sorry but here I have made a mistake, can you correct this. https://geohashing.site/geohashing/2024-01-11
- No problem! There was a typo on the page (2024-01-11 instead of 2024-01-12), this is fixed now and the expedition shows up on the correct date page. --Fippe (talk) 16:22, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
Thank you so much, you are my hero
I can't open the page http://geo.crox.net/poster/. Do you know what this could be?
- What kind of error message appears when you try to open it? --Fippe (talk) 09:26, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
"http://poster.geo.crox.net/poster/2024-08-22_58_6" is not a secure site
- Yes, that appears because the website still uses HTTP instead of HTTPS, which is rare these days, so modern browsers issue these warnings. However, since you are not entering any passwords or other sensitive information, this is okay. You are just there to download the poster. Is there a button that says "Continue to insecure site anyway" or something like that? --Fippe (talk) 10:34, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
I have now been in contact with a company that runs data support for both private individuals and companies. They are also unable to access this page from their machine so they advise me to tell the owner of the page that we cannot access this page. --Pica42 (talk) 07:15, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
- For additional information, I am able to access the page with no error or warning, other than an icon indicating that the page is HTTP. Could it be a region-specific issue? --KerrMcF (talk) 22:49, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
New phone
I recently bought a new phone, so I can't get geohashing to work. That's why I tried to create the page manually, which didn't work. I'm sorry. You need to check if there is anything correct in this version.--Pica42 (talk) 18:37, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
Hi, sorry for the late reply. The page 2024-12-15 58 5 looks good to me. Or are you talking about a different expedition? What do you mean by "can't get geohashing to work"? If your current phone is using Android, it should be possible to install the app Geohash Droid which I think is what you used on your previous phone. (If it is an iPhone, the app does not work there, but we can find a solution for that too). I would like to help, but I first need to understand what the problem is. --Fippe (talk) 19:09, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
List of expeditions
How can I create a page that shows all the Geohach I've found in the past? --Pica42 (talk) 14:53, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
- I added an entry for you at this page, now you can find a list of your expeditions at User:Pica42/Expeditions. The list is transcludable, and is now also displayed on your user page. --Fippe (talk) 15:33, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
How can I delete photos that have been uploaded twice? --Pica42 (talk) 08:20, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
- You can request a deletion by editing the page (or file page) and add
reason --~~~~
. --Fippe (talk) 08:25, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
There are no pages that use this image file. Where can I delete a duplicate file that is not being used? Is there a place where I can see all the image files I have uploaded? --Pica42 (talk) 08:46, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
- Here is a list of all files you uploaded: Special:ListFiles/Pica42 --Fippe (talk) 08:53, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
How can I delete the largest image? --Pica42 (talk) 14:49, 11 April 2022 (UTC)
- There was a line at 2022-04-11 58 5:

. I removed that, so now it is gone. It is still in the gallery though, the same size as the other pictures. --Fippe (talk) 15:20, 11 April 2022 (UTC)
I'm wondering what I did wrong with 2022-06-13 58 5... --Pica42 (talk)
- If you add a link to your profile (
Pica42
instead of justPica42
) in the participants section of 2022-06-13 58 5, it will show up in your expedition list. --Fippe (talk) 15:38, 16 June 2022 (UTC)
What is the difference between red and green arrow on the users side? --Pica42 (talk) 06:37, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
- Some people use that to easily show whether they completed the expedition or not. I think there's a grey arrow too, for "did not attempt". Arlo (talk) 08:45, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
Sorry, but I think I made a error on my last recorded trip, although I don't know what I did wrong. Can you tell me what I have done wrong, I don't want to make the mistake again, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pica42 (talk • contribs) 2022-11-19T13:54:22
- The problem being the red link in the consecutive geohash ribbon? The parameters should be date, lat and lon for the first expedition. Currently, the lon is 6 like the second expedition, but it should be 5 like the first expedition. --Fippe (talk) 15:26, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
Should I update https://geohashing.site/geohashing/Egersund_East,_Norway — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pica42 (talk • contribs) 2022-11-20T13:49:37
Shouldn't this page show my hashes in 58 6- — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pica42 (talk • contribs) 2022-11-20T14:13:25
- Yes, the page can show that, if you want to add your hashes there, that is a good idea. --Fippe (talk) 14:28, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
Sorry, I didn't manage to fix this. Can you give me a helping hand. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pica42 (talk • contribs) 2022-11-20T15:49:22
- Yes. I added Egersund East and Haugesund to User:AperfectBot/Grat expedition lists, so now automatic expedition lists will be generated for those graticules. --Fippe (talk) 16:22, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
Many thanks for the excellent help.
Achievements
How do I do when I think I'm entitled to an "achievement". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pica42 (talk • contribs) 2022-02-13T15:00:08
- You may award an achievement to yourself if you supply appropriate proof on the expedition page. The page of the achievement lists what kind of proof is needed. The achievement page also links to the achievement template, which you can then display on your user page and/or on the expedition page. --Fippe (talk) 15:25, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
I can not figure out how to create such a frame with the icon for achivement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pica42 (talk • contribs) 2022-03-18T14:34:00
- You can use templates for that. For a land geohash, use Template:Land geohash. An example usage would be this:

--Fippe (talk) 14:38, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
How many times can I get for example the achievement: Land geohash achievement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pica42 (talk • contribs) 2022-07-19T16:37:13
- There is no limit, you may claim it as many times as you want to. --Fippe (talk) 16:47, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
Can I use the "Consecutive geohash achievement" for two hashes only the first time I have two hashes in a row? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pica42 (talk • contribs) 2022-11-19T16:45:53
- Technically yes, it is only supposed to be claimed when you break your personal record. --Fippe (talk) 18:56, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
Hi, I noticed that you have claimed the wedding anniversary geohash achievement for 2022-08-20 58 5. However, this achievement is for visiting the coordinates for the original day of the wedding on the day of the anniversary. In your case it would be a retrohash for 1976-08-20 58 5 (but probably in a different graticule, since the coordinates for that day are in the water) visited on the 20th of August. --Fippe (talk) 16:59, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
Airport Geohash
Did you attempt to reach yesterday's coordinates at the airport? --Fippe (talk) 11:38, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
No, there was a fence around the area so I could not enter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pica42 (talk • contribs) 2022-04-26T12:47:38
- Okay, and did you go to the airport and to the fence on that day, or did you see the fence on Google Street View and decided to stay home? --Fippe (talk) 18:59, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
I drove past two days before.
