Report

After finally getting a geohash yesterday, I eagerly awaited 11:30pm Friday- when the three weekend hash points are released. However for our gratical, it hasn't been particularly joyous lately- with a very low percentage of points falling in accessible places. As the screen refreshed at 11:30pm and I thought, oh, that's funny- tomorrow's is just up the road! Then I thought about it, looked at the time and realised - MIDNIGHT GEOHASH TIME!

I left the house at 11:46pm, after uploading my GPS and un-taping my camera from a card-board box (I've been doing stop motion animation for uni...It's going to take me ages to get the positioning right again...)

  • 11:55, stuck at the traffic lights. Only 1 km to go- could be touch and go...
  • 11:58, wizz up the lane to the dead end and my GPS hits 1m before spiraling upwards to 55m away.
  • 11.59, hop out of the car, still pulling insulation tape off my camera to grab a midnight photo with 3 meters to go.

I could have stayed longer, perhaps got a complete lock, but it was raining, and dark, and I was in a back alley. Oh, and I've just realised my ex-boyfriend is a stalker, due to the fact that as I ran out the door I saw someone sitting on our veranda, and his car in the lane...

The car was gone when I got home 15 minutes later...
