Expedition

This was a lucky strike hash for Fasanen. The hashpoint was located to the fairway of the fourth hole on Abbekås golf course, less than 3 kilometers from his home. Fasanen knew this place well; he used to be a regular member of the golf club for several years and had walked up and down the roughs hundreds of times. These lucky circumstances gave him several achievement challenge opportunities.

Fasanen was somewhat busy during the day of this particular hash and decided to attempt a Midnight hash in combination with a Golf hash, Walk hash and a Tron hash. He prepared a special xkcd-golf ball for the Golf hash.

In order to get to the hashpoint in time for midnight, Fasanen started walking from home a few minutes past 23.00. It was foggy but not too cold. People walking on the rural main roads at this hour are usually more than suspicious and bearing in mind that there had been a major arson the same day in this area, it was now to say the least - upsetting! Fasanen had just walked out of his home village when he met a car. It passed, but Fasanen noticed that it slowed down and eventually stopped. Fasanen continued walking but noticed that the car started stalking him. While beginning to think about how to explain his whereabouts to the anxious driver, the car passed him again but without confronting him. This happened a few more times until the driver finally decided that Fasanen’s appearance was not the one of an arsonist.

Fasanen reached the haspoint five minutes before midnight and knelt down on the fairway to place the specially prepared golf ball on a peg. He documented in due form and took care not to cross his own path when heading back home. Knowing the course was a big advantage in this situation. A non-local would not know that there was only one place where the Skivarp stream could be crossed when walking back. Fasanen knew, but with the aid of a head lamp only, it was quite a challenge even for him to find the crossing.

The walk back home was uneventful but Fasanen noted that he really needed to buy some better trekking boots.

Expedition time: 2 hours 6 minutes Expedition length: 10.3 kilometres Average speed: 4.9 km/h
