Due to Singapore's tiny land area relative to the rest of the graticule, I'm chuffed to bits just to have one viable geohash location every once in a while. This was looking to be a very easy geohash - simply take a 20-minute train ride to Newton, walk out of the station and bam! In less than five minutes you're there. I had even walked on that very pavement two years ago, right through the geohash location. When I exited the station, the open field that was located beside it was closed off, but I held out hope that the geohash was still accessible on the other end of the field.

CURSE YOU DOWNTOWN LINE! It's really quite ridiculous sometimes how much we're digging out underground. With all these tunnels we're building, the likeliest doomsday scenario I can think of for Singapore involves land subsidence. Sigh. Geohashing attempt having failed, I went off with my mum to Rochor Centre for a bit of food and shopping (not such hardcore shopping - just a set of handkerchiefs for Dad and an umbrella).

As it turned out, no it wasn't.
