The Vernon, British Columbia graticule is located at 50 N, 119 W, in the interior of British Columbia, Canada. Vernon is the largest city with a population of 36,000. There are several smaller cities, towns, and municipalities scattered along the five highways.
Geography
The area is mostly undeveloped and covered by forest and rangeland. It also contains hundreds of lakes, rivers, and streams; farms, orchards, and vineyards; steppes with cacti, swamps, and mountains. The base elevation is 342 m at Okanagan Lake and the peak elevation is 1915 m at Silver Star Mountain.
Despite being undeveloped, the area is largely accessible by forest service roads and other unimproved roads. Geohashers will find the Thompson Okanagan Backroad Mapbook to be an indispensable tool.
