"Hooked on Fishing", East Peoria, Illinois
Participants
Plans
No in-depth plans, other than to visit and see what was there. It looked like it would be easy to park in the lot for Dixon's Seafood Shoppe, right next door to the destination, and nose around a bit.
Expedition
Rachel came with me for this one, since she too wanted to know what these ponds were all about, right next to the Illinois River. Overhead views are sketchy, and even with Bing's Bird's Eye views, I couldn't tell what this was. They looked manmade, so the only thing I could come up with was that they were some variety of fish hatchery. So we went there, and arrived at Hooked on Fishing. I had heard about this place before, I think, but I didn't really know anything about it or knew where it was. It seems that the Google/Bing maps are outdated, taken while the location was still under construction. From outside the gates and fences, it looked like a beautiful site for fishing or any kind of recreating, for that matter. I thought it a pity that, given the requirements for using the facility, I don't qualify. In any case, I now know what's there, so that's positive.
