Due to Singapore's tiny land area relative to the rest of the graticule, I'm chuffed to bits just to have one viable geohash location every once in a while. This was looking to be a very easy geohash - simply take a 20-minute train ride to Newton, walk out of the station and bam! In less than five minutes you're there. I had even walked on that very pavement two years ago, right through the geohash location. When I exited the station, the open field that was located beside it was closed off, but I held out hope that the geohash was still accessible on the other end of the field.
As it turned out, no it wasn't.
- Coordinates not reached thanks to Singapore's sudden zeal for construction work. Geohash was located in the Stage 2 Downtown Line construction site, the on-road to Bukit Timah Road diverted to a new location. Just when I thought I was striking it lucky. Sigh. -- Cyazlars 03:50, 2 February 2012 (EST)
CURSE YOU DOWNTOWN LINE! It's really quite ridiculous sometimes how much we're digging out underground. With all these tunnels we're building, the likeliest doomsday scenario I can think of for Singapore involves land subsidence. Sigh. Geohashing attempt having failed, I went off with my mum to Rochor Centre for a bit of food and shopping (not such hardcore shopping - just a set of handkerchiefs for Dad and an umbrella).
