Plans

Plans are yet to form but I am going to try this one on Tuesday evening. If other people would like to meet up, I'm fairly flexible with times. I might try to walk this from my house. Depending on the time, I may get a (number 3) bus back. There's also the possibility of a drink or food in the Six Bells. We'll see.

Expedition

This was going to be an easy one. Fifteen minutes’ bus ride from the station, then a ten minute walk up the lane to the hashpoint. I finished my work for the day and set out.

I got to the gate separating the lane from the field. There was no evidence of any right of way - a heavy chain and padlock on the gate. Thirty metres inside the gate was electric ribbon, and behind it, a wooden fence and two young horses.

Yes, I could have hopped over the gate and got past the electric fence, but my conscience told me I shouldn’t go any further. Aside from possible trespassing, I could worry the horses or perhaps the owner in the nearby house. I looked at my GPS receiver, and decided 60m would have to do today. The Tongs’ first failed expedition!

On the way back to the bus stop opposite the Six Bells, I got myself a bag of Revels from the shop. The Six Bells does indeed look nice. Maybe I’ll stop in there another day. The bus went back along Cambridge Road, and from it a nice sunset could be seen.
