The surroundings, though, were quite interesting: Only 4 m away was a pond (complete with ducks), of which a small arm reached beyond a small dam toward the fenced area. A short way behind the pond was another pool, both of which nicely mirrored the surrounding trees and presumably belonged to the nearby ''Wasserwerk – Gemeindewerke Halstenbek'', which I think manages the tap- and wastewater of the town. I saw a person working there, but he did not approach. On my way back I found a third pond in the forest before wetting the last dry spots of my socks on the field. I cycled back to Halstenbek station and took the same trains home; as expected, the expedition took 2:40 h. | The surroundings, though, were quite interesting: Only 4 m away was a pond (complete with ducks), of which a small arm reached beyond a small dam toward the fenced area. Plans
Will need to go there today if I want to reach 52 expeditions this year, even though it'll probably take 2:40 h, slightly over my usual expedition limit of 2:30 h. 50th hash of 2021!
Expedition
Took the train to Halstenbek (via Eidelstedt) and then cycled 2.6 km to the hash. It lay in a small forest, which could be accessed via a field with a fortunately open gate. However, the field had tall grass and was extremely wet, completely soaking my shoes and my two pairs of socks already with the first few steps. I entered the forest from the field after 60 m and noticed that the treeless area which I'd seen on the satellite map, and on the edge of which the hash was located, was surrounded by a high fence. I reached the nearest point to the hash after 40 m and found out that it was a Wasserwirtschaftliche Anlage (water management facility) and a Wasserschutzgebiet (water protection area). The hashpoint was ca. 1–2 m from the fence, and I was well within the circle of uncertainty, and yet I cannot claim this as a success in good conscience. Perhaps other geohashers would.
The surroundings, though, were quite interesting: Only 4 m away was a pond (complete with ducks), of which a small arm reached beyond a small dam toward the fenced area. A short way behind the pond was another pool, both of which nicely mirrored the surrounding trees and presumably belonged to the nearby Wasserwerk – Gemeindewerke Halstenbek, which I think manages the tap- and wastewater of the town. I saw a person working there, but he did not approach. On my way back I found a third pond in the forest before wetting the last dry spots of my socks on the field. I cycled back to Halstenbek station and took the same trains home; as expected, the expedition took 2:40 h.
With this expedition, I am now the 23rd geohasher to go on at least 50 expeditions in one calendar year (and only the fifth in the last fife years)!
