Hello SailRN, welcome to the Geohashing Community! If you are south-west of Columbia, you are likely in this graticule, where the most recent expedition was in 2010. As far as I can tell, you are the only active user in your state. There are active users around the world though. Many Geohashing expeditions only involve one person anyway. 2022-01-12: Hello Fippe, thank you for writing. You are correct in the identity of my graticule, though I'm close to the NE corner. I'm learning my way through the system but am having much difficulty, such as my graticule's "Today's Location" returns a "Page not found" at s server named peeron. Very frustrating but fortunately a few other graticules return their meeting locations, so if I've got the time to travel further I hope to get active in this.

If you've got a moment, I'd like to know how to find other participants in my area if anyone else becomes active nearby.

Peeron is pretty bad these days, this is a good reminder that we have got to replace those links. I usually use Geohashing.info, which is much better. Here is the Geohashing.info map for your graticule. One thing to keep in mind is that graticules are pretty large, and Geohashes are not reachable every day. If a location in a neighbouring graticule is closer or more convenient, that is not just allowed, but also encouraged. But sometimes there is a day where I would be free to go Geohashing, but there just isn't a good location available on that day, not in my graticule nor in any of the neighbouring ones. Unlike Geocaching, is is (almost) impossible to go Geohashing every day.

Meeting other participants - your graticule has not had any expeditions since 2010, so I don't want to get your hopes up. But for the sake of completeness: There are so-called ninja Geohashers, those who go Geohashing but do not publish an expedition report afterwards. The official meetup time for Saturday Meetups is 16:00, so if there are any ninjas near you, that would be the time to meet them. While it is impossible to know how many Ninjas there are, my guess is that there aren't that many, since most Geohashers have never met a Ninja.

If anyone else becomes active near you, they will likely add a link to their user page to their graticule page in a "Local Geohashers" section, so it could be a good idea to keep an eye on the pages of graticules near you. You can also link your own user page from your graticule page so that new users will know that there already is an active user in their area. --Fippe (talk) 21:15, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
