Do not oppose. I don't really love it, due to the overlap with Done with Nature. Also, I particularly don't love the requirement that the land be publicly accessible. I've had a few incidents where I didn't get to a hash because there were cows in the field, none of which would qualify here. So it's not really adding much, but I don't object. :Done with Nature gives a list several examples of what could stop you from proceeding: wolves, raptors, bracken, cliffs, rivers, snakes, avalanches, blizzards. There is already a decent bit of overlap here with three previously existing achievements: Cliffs of Despair (cliffs, avalanches), My Kingdom for a Boat (rivers), There Might be Alligators! (also rivers). Why not also have a subset achievement for the wolves, raptors, and snakes in that list? If the proposal doesn't go ahead for the overlap with another achievement, that's fair enough, but other achievements exist with this same overlap, so I would want more clarification on why it's an issue here specifically. --KerrMcF (talk) 14:38, 18 July 2024 (UTC)

:I'm not certain that Done with Nature is all that rare, I've claimed it for 3 out of my 20 expeditions by now, which is pretty often. There have also been countless geohashes that I haven't attempted due to the knowledge that nature would get in the way of me reaching the point. Regardless of the rarity of the Done with Nature achievement, it already has 3 subset achievements, none of which this current proposal would overlap with. There clearly was a desire for specific Done with Nature achievements at the time of proposing, largely suggesting that the achievement isn't too rare for this. Side note: I don't agree with subsets, but an exception seems to have been made for Done with Nature and as such I don't see that as a reason to oppose the achievement. I also struggle to see how it encourages picking fights with animals. It actively rewards you for not continuing when encountering dangerous wildlife. That would be the equivalent of saying No Trespassing encourages trespassing. --KerrMcF (talk) 14:38, 18 July 2024 (UTC)

Isn't this a subset of the MNB Geohash? Nature includes fauna, the page explicitly lists "wolves, raptors" as possible causes preventing one from reaching a Geohash. --Fippe (talk) 17:12, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

Yup. That actually was in my mind when proposing this. I feel like this would make a valid subcategory, of which MNB already have three. Or are those considered deprecated by now? V1993 (talk) 17:20, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
Fair point. Do not oppose. --Fippe (talk) 12:07, 20 June 2021 (UTC)

Oppose as already covered in the standard version of this consolation prize. Additionally, adding a third achievement based on this format will only confuse people. --KerrMcF (talk) 02:30, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

Needs Work. I misunderstood the concept. It would be a sub-consolation prize, similar to Cliffs of Despair or White Rabbit. This works, but the name needs to be changed to something more suitable regarding the Renaming Proposal which changed Mother Nature's Bitch to 'Done with Nature' (and Mother Nature is my Bitch to 'One with Nature'). I don't necessarily have any suggestions (something related to animals, perhaps Guard Dog?) but until this is resolved the achievement should not be finalised. --KerrMcF (talk) 17:43, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

Renamed to Guard Dog consolation prize as a more suitable name regarding the MNB renaming process. As such, I now Support this proposal. --KerrMcF (talk) 00:57, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

Done with Nature gives a list several examples of what could stop you from proceeding: wolves, raptors, bracken, cliffs, rivers, snakes, avalanches, blizzards.
I'm not a big fan of the rename, because if the consolation prize precludes private property, then actual guard dogs wouldn't qualify. Stevage (talk) 03:24, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
The name is definitely open for suggestions! It had to be changed due to the MNB link, but this change doesn't have to be permanent. --KerrMcF (talk) 14:38, 18 July 2024 (UTC)

Oppose because Done With Nature is rare enough and this will encourage picking fights with animals. Bottomley Potts (talk) 08:38, 5 July 2024 (UTC)

Another way to look at it is that it will not encourage picking fights with animals. --Fippe (talk) 08:53, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
I'm not certain that Done with Nature is all that rare, I've claimed it for 3 out of my 20 expeditions by now, which is pretty often.
