The journey was actually better than the destination, as said destination was in front of someone's house and the menacing dirt-bikers non-verbally warned me to spend as little time there as possible, but along the way I discovered the collegy, artsy Shepherdstown. Turning off the main road, I'd only expected another small West Virginia town -- instead, I found an ecologically conscious community with a fantastic bookstore (I ended up buying a book of Jim Carroll poems). The person working there had told me that there were nesting eagles in the preserve that could be seen from the road, but sadly the trees were too thick or the nest was too far away. Still! I was CLOSE to baby eagles, at least! And there were some seriously scenic vistas along the way.

The journey was actually better than the destination, as said destination was in front of someone's house and the menacing dirt-bikers non-verbally warned me to spend as little time there as possible, but along the way I discovered the collegy, artsy Shepherdstown.
