In regards to those Hashes, the graticles ''around'' (43, -87) have proven to be more my stomping ground than my home one.  In fact, I have yet to go on a Geo Hash within my own graticle - mainly because most of it is covered by the waters of Lake Michigan.  One day I'll get my hands on a boat and that won't be a problem, but I'm saving that particular trip  for warmer seasons.
