Location
Off of the Brookston exit of 65, right by the wind turbines! 30 minutes north of Purdue's campus.
Participants
- Buttercup and
- Buttercup's friend
Plans
Drive near the coordinates and park on the side of the road. We will have to walk the rest of the way, but it should be interesting because the wind turbines are so close!
Expedition
So the expedition went pretty smoothly at first. We had to drive on a gravelish dirt road in order to get near the point and then walked on foot the rest of the way. It was snowing/sleeting which describes Indiana's weather pretty well. While walking out we realized that the mud was pretty bad. Not deep, but it was heavy and it stuck to our shoes. We got the hash easily, but it wasn't until after we got back to the car did the adventure really begin. Before getting into the car I ask my friend to take his shoes off and put them on a tarp that I have in my trunk. I pull onto 65 and this van slows down and starts rolling down its window as if to talk to us. I slow down and he mouths something and points to the back of my car. Oh great. I figured I had left my trunk slightly open so we pull off and I get out to check it. (Mind you at this point that I am wearing no shoes or socks and the temperature may have been below freezing now). Anyway, I get out and check my trunk. Everything is fine. Then I see my tire. FLAT. Great. I get back into the car and long story short we get picked up about an hour later by a wonderful gentleman and his tow-truck.
My friend and I grew mighty closer after this adventure. There may have even been cutting off limbs and aliens involved... but that is another story. :)
