I live in the Los Angeles, California, graticule. After lurking for more than a year, I am going to try my first expedition on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 -- just across the Los Angeles River from Griffith Park.

• 2014-01-20: Boppy5 and I plan to go to this Monday meetup in the dry South Fork River (wash) near Railroad Ave. in Santa Clarita. We anticipate arriving at 4:00pm.

• 2014-01-02, Santa Ana graticule: Roadside at a residential intersection in Chino Hills.
• 2013-12-31, Los Angeles graticule: In the driveway of a duplex residence in Rosemead.
• 2013-12-25, Ridgecrest graticule: No luck. Darkness descended too quickly to make desert hiking feel safe.
• 2013-12-25, Tehachapi graticule: Second success of the day! Boppy5 and I made it to the desert west of California City for a picnic with dogs.
• 2013-12-25, Bakersfield graticule: Good start to the day. Boppy5 and I visited a field east of Maricopa (and just north of S.R. 166) with three whippets and a vizsla.
• 2013-12-21, Long Beach graticule: My second expedition ... and my first outside of my home graticule. A hillside on the Palos Verdes peninsula between a housing tract and a Southern California Edison electrical substation.
• 2013-12-18, Los Angeles graticule: My first expedition! Rancho Drive, just north of the Bette Davis Picnic Area in Griffith Park. I dragged along Boppy5 to make it a "first" for one other too..
