New to Geohashing!

Determined to explore the (so far) unexplored cretan graticule!

I subscribe to the old style of exploration: no GPS nor private transportation for me.

My first Geohash

2014-01-16_35_25 My friend LizWiz had encouraged me during the christmas holiday to try and get into geohashing. Especially since I had recently moved to the beautiful island of Crete, which is a little bit of an uncharted territory. I had been checking for nearby heashpoints, so when the hashpoint turned out to be just 7km from my home, I decided to seize the opportunity. I took a bus which conveniently took me to the neigborhood of Stavrakia and then I walked from there following a local road.

I used GoogleMaps to figure out that the hashpoint was a few meters in front of a building which I recognized when I got there.
