The GeoHash [http://irc.peeron.com/xkcd/map/map.html?date=2008-06-09&lat=-42&long=175&zoom=11&abs=1 here] looks to be about 200m up in the hills behind the prison and golf club in Trentham, possibly a few km from the nearest road. [[User:nzsteak|nzsteak]] is planning an expedition leaving from Wellington in the morning, others are welcome - leave a message on my talk page or I'll be on the IRC channel for a while (especially useful would be a handheld GPS, I don't want to carry a laptop so at the moment it's going to be "old skool" compass triangulation:) .

Wellington Upper Hutt, New Zealand
<map lat="-41" lon="+175"/>

[[Category:Meetup in {{{lat}}} {{{lon}}}| ]]

This graticule includes the most southern part of the North Island. It has a greater land percentage than the neighbouring Wellington region making it slightly more suitable for geohashing. The land is also only from one island, eliminating a 3+ hour, $100+ ferry trip.

As for all New Zealand graticules, the Dow Jones does not open for any day until it is 1:30am the next day in New Zealand. Weekend meetups are still possible, however.
