After failing the 51 5 hash, we were still hopeful to get at least one hash today. It was 2 kilometer from where we would be spending the weekend, we picked up a friend of ours that had never gone hashing before and the hash was in the back of some field.

Driving from Waalwijk to Giethoorn the weather changed and it started raining. As we arrived at the farmer’s house, we were still dry, but everything else wasn’t.

We drove up and I got out. The farmer was working in the stables, but he came out when he saw me. I explained what geohashing is. He seemed to understand the concept. Apparently there was, or had been, a geocache right beside his fields for a while. The experience he had with the cache was not great, as his dogs kept alarming on the cachers close to his field. I explained that I would be the only hasher to try to this, and that the chances of the hash coming close to his field again were tiny. Sadly, he would not give permission to enter his field and I had to mark this second expedition also down as a failed expedition. A bad beginning to what would otherwise become an amazing and fun weekend. This hash would have been fun to succeed in as it was our friend’s first hash. A success might have given her the idea of how much fun this is, but alas.
