Virginia Beach represent! Though I'm actually a part of the Norfolk, Virginia graticule... by maybe a tenth of a mile. Right off Virginia Beach blvd. and First Colonial to stop you wondering. Works just fine for me as I don't have a boat and don't particularly care to swim that far out.
I've yet to go on any geohashes but gimme a break I just today, September 9th, 2008, found out that people actually did this.
