Expedition Planning
While dozing off on the Eurostar coming from the continent late on Sunday afternoon I think to myself, "Hmmm, let me take a look at tomorrow's hash." Yay!!, I think, it is within the range of an el-cheapo Tube traveler, ironically.
Expedition
This hash began with minor delays as I was ready to leave the office, but my mother called and ended up talking until 2045 or so. As you may have guessed, most of that time was spent trying to tell her what I was going to be doing tonight. (Yes, I am using 24 hour time format to try to pretend I am smart)
Anyways, I started off this hash with a casual walk to Monument/Bank (nobody really knows which is which) Tube station. Was a pretty quick ride up on the Northern line. Wanting to be a little adventurous I got off at Finchley Central so as to have a nice stroll through the suburbs. Turned out to be a pretty good route, got to see old style train overpass and may, or may not, have illegally wandered through the Finchley golf course... Even, surprisingly as this was 2130pm, heard many birds chirping!
Anyways, finally made it to the hash point which happened to be inside a house! My plan was to knock on the door and preach the gospel of geohashing and get them all excited that fate (or maybe the DOW) choose for a Google pin-point to land in there very home! Was even planning to go inside and get a picture with them at the exact point! Guess what didn't happen...
After the women who answered the door didn't seem to understand what I was talking about (she may not have know English too well and look Filipino) and called her husband to come to the door I feigned innocents and asked for directions. Then promptly walked off with my tail between my legs feeling unprepared. (What can I say? 'twas my first geohash.)
And so I ended up walking back to the closer Mill Hill East station to finish this rather uneventful and unsuccessful hash.
