The text does not match. In the ribbon you say "reaching and leaving the hash by ferry" but in the definition "using a ferry to reach or return from". The first would mean that you actually reach the hash while on the ferry. Which is just be a subset of the water geohash extremely hard to achieve because you can only hope the ferry route will hit the hash by random - given the nature of ferry routes as non-trackbound you can hardly ever be sure enough to plan a geohashing trip for it. Just using a ferry along the way is, ok, kind of interesting as a part of the way there but I'm not so sure it's worth its own achievement. Many of us have done that, I guess. --Ekorren (talk) 16:24, 4 May 2014 (EDT)
- I changed the text in the ribbon. It's rather seldom in Germany to use a ferry. And it's not free like a bridge. --Q-Owl (talk) 08:37, 9 June 2014 (EDT)
Oppose. Achievements for transport like bicycles or skates make sense, but a ferry falls under public transport, which already has its own achievement. Splitting this into different categories feels unnecessary, especially when the public transport ribbon has a section to add information on the transportation type. The distances system allows for users to add distance travelled via different transportation methods and may be relevant to people interested in a Ferry achievement. --KerrMcF (talk) 13:59, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
