- Support/Maybe needs work. I think this is a great thing if you're on the way to a geohash and can then visit something interesting. I would actually be in favor of a more open attitude towards this achievement. So not exactly tied to the pictures in Wikipedia... You're excited about a place, you take photos and when you get home you realize that the photos aren't quite the same as the ones in the Wiki. But like everything, you have to have some kind of proof because there will always be people who cheat. So it works for advance planning, but it becomes difficult for spontaneous ones. I made a few spontaneous stops myself on my motorcycle geohashing geocaching tour. The pictures of "Burg Alt-Ramschwag" aren't exactly the same as on the Wiki but I accidentally took an exact picture of the "Mosterei Möhl" one on Wikipedia. So I have both situations and for me both should count. I claimed the achievement for myself. see expedition on 2024-10-16. Globescorer (talk) 10:01, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- I disagree strongly with the idea that non-matching photos should count; wouldn't these just be ordinary photos? I don't think simply taking a photograph of something that has a Wikipedia page is enough for an achievement. If it was, I would have the opportunity to claim this achievement on every single expedition by just taking one additional photograph and contributing no additional effort. The process of finding where and how to match the original photo is a significant portion of the proposal, and removing that requirement changes the achievement entirely. It's about recreating the original to show the changes across time, not just taking a photograph.
- I want to provide some examples of how this would turn the achievement from being something requiring effort into something almost always applicable without even trying. I will do this by selecting one photograph from 5 of my recent expeditions (none of which are eligible for the proposal as currently defined) and listing which Wikipedia article the photograph relates to. All of these examples are either minimal effort or just not significant in any way to the area, but all of which technically are mentioned within the Wikipedia article (even the last one).

- By widening the definition of the achievement to allow practically any photograph to be valid, it removes any value or desire for the achievement itself, thus making it worthless (and actually turning it into a proposal I would oppose). --KerrMcF (talk) 01:13, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
