At a well-known and -used BBQ/picnic area, beside Lake Gininderra^%, near John Knight Memorial Park^%%, off Townsend Place^%%%, ACT.

^% Ginninderra is the name of the river on which the lake is situated. Ginninderra is an Aboriginal word meaning "sparkling" or "throwing little rays of light". It was also spelt Ginin-ginin-derry and Giningininderra.

^%% Named after Senator John Knight who, as Chairman of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on the Australian Capital Territory, played a major role in ensuring the preservation of much of the shores of Lake Ginninderra for public recreation.

^%%% William Townsend (1821-1882), Mayor of Adelaide, 1864; arrived in South Australia, 1844; MLA, South Australia, 1857-82; Commissioner of Crown Lands, 1863; Commissioner of Committees, 1876-82; founded Blind, Deaf and Dumb Institute; Mayor, Unley, 1879-81.
